Indie pop group White Shoes and the Couples Company from Jakarta, Indonesia, are bringing their mix of orchestral pieces, clap-along pop tunes, and dandelion-delicate love songs to San Francisco for the second time this year.
2008 has been a great year for White Shoes & The Couples Company. The band performed at the SXSW Music Conference in Austin, Texas in March to rave press review, and sold out one of the best music venues in San Francisco. The band will perform at the CMJ Music Festival in New York prior to their San Francisco date. They've been named one of the Top 25 Bands on MySpace by Rolling Stone, featured in Time magazine, praised by Pitchfork and named "One of the Most Crush-worthy Bands" by All Music Guide.
White Shoes & The Couples Company will perform on November 2nd, 7pm, at 330 Ritch, San Francisco

what a great show! Foxtail was great and the White Shoes were awesome. Like a cross between the cardigans and wang wang. I'll def. see them when they come back - so much fun bopping around.
Here's what Pitchfork says about the band's show at SXSW.
"And now for something complete different...indie pop! From Indonesia! Jakarta sextet White Shoes & the Couples Company (minus a guitarist here) came from halfway around the world to entertain, and entertain they did. Between the slick matching wedding band getup, the highly danceable retro pop stylings, and the picture-perfect poise of charismatic vocalist Aprilia Apsari, there was much to love about this Minty Fresh-signed act. Separated from this adorable performance, the music may have come across a bit hokey, but give these kids credit for their willingness to put on a show, complete with sing- and clap-alongs, much moving of feet, and even a cute drum solo bit."
Just want to let you know that Billboard magazine, March edition, features White Shoes And The Couples Company as one of the 12 acts to watch at SXSW this year.
