Back in June, Colvin released her newest CD, “Shawn Colvin Live.” The singer-songwriter’s album was recorded last year during a three-night solo engagement at Yoshi's in San Francisco. The resulting CD has been called“…the best concert recording of the year” (CountryChart.com).
Folks attending the 10/24 Centre East engagement will find Colvin in a setting similar to that used to create this new CD..on a stool by herself performing many of the songs featured in that acclaimed recording. Opening for Colvin will be Zachary Scot Johnson, who has been described as having “the smooth guitar lines of James Taylor, the spunk of Joni Mitchell, the vocals of Elvis Costello, and the songwriting ability of all three" (The Lawrentian, 2003).
It is free and it is in GG Park. I believe GAMH has some connection to this festival as it is often mentioned in the weekly e-mails I get from them.
There's a little more info at www.strictlybluegrass.com and as I recall that site will be populated with more and more information as it gets closer to the date of the concert.
