Yeah man that show at the blue note was crazy with Will Calhoun of Living Color on the drums it was crazy for sure! I must say that I have worked with Mos and his management to perform and if he didn't perform to you arrangements then I would have to say perhaps it wasn't Mos that was wack because I know he perfers to venture into the roads least traveled looking for innovation sonically...so step your game up!
>how would a Mos Def show work in a place like this? Am I supposed listen to Mos while munching down edamame and sashimi with a like sake?
Yes, that's exactly right. Mos is backed by a (smoking) jazz band. It's a seated club. You can drink sake and eat sushi in the club. He did this a few times in NY, most recently at the Blue Note.
I've never been to Yoshi's but I understand it's a jazz venue where people eat with reserved seating etc..umm... how would a Mos Def show work in a place like this? Am I supposed listen to Mos while munching down edamame and sashimi with a like sake?
I'm the leader of Realistic Orchestra, the band that was supposed to Back up Mos Def at that show in Golden Gate park on Octobr 18th, 2008. I just wanna say it was one of the most WHACK events I've ever been involved in. Dealing with Mos Def's management was RIDICULOUS. I did 4 orchestra arrangments of Mos Def songs and they never even got played because Mos Def didn't have the balls to come on stage and perform with us. Awesome.
wow how much of a disaster was this event? mos def finally goes on after waiting all day for him...late...then they cut the power on him after 10 minutes of performing..
