Kronos: Music From 4 Fences
Feb. 24, 25, 26, 27 @ 8 PM

On February 24-27, the Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet performs 4 programs in 4 nights at Z Space @ Artaud, featuring the West Coast premiere of Jon Rose's "Music From 4 Fences." Premiered at the Sydney Opera House, the work features Kronos performing on four specially-built fences to create an eclectic aural environment, accompanied by a visual design by Willie Williams.

Each concert also features a work by one of the four young composers - Alexandra du Bois, Felipe Pérez Santiago, Dan Visconti, and Aviya Kopelman - commissioned by Kronos' Under 30 Project, a commissioning program developed to cultivate strong connections and lasting artistic relationships with the next creative generation. Also on the program are works by Terry Riley ("father of minimalism" and longtime Kronos collaborator), Damon Albarn on Feb. 24 (frontman of the Britpop band Blur, Gorillaz), John Zorn on Feb. 25, Clint Mansell on Feb. 26 (well known for his work with Kronos on the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack), and Bryce Dessner on Feb. 27 (guitarist for the indie rock band The National.)
