SALEM, the bewitching and controversial midwest trio are finally set to debut in SF! Their deeply personal electronic pop music incorporates gothy shoegaze with elements of Chicago Juke, Houston Screw, and Southern rap production with sometimes terrifying, often beautiful, but always haunting vocals. An audacious project on paper, in reality it is some of the most forward thinking pop music being made today not to mention some of the darkest, prettiest music one is likely to hear for quite some time. Salem embodies a generation that doesn't care about race, sexual orientation, authenticity, and much more. Their first album, King Night, has received stellar reviews around the globe. The songs intersect around a few main components, a unique, percussive mix between Chicago juke and southern rap, a blissed-out wash of synths and vocals reminiscent of Cocteau Twins, and a fast-and-slow polyrhythm of fanned-out hi-hats and crisis sounds. Lots of tracks on the site here so check these cats out and get hooked and spellbound at the same time. The show has been rescheduled and all support talent is also confirmed: THE SOFT MOON, SHAWN REYNALDO (Bersa Discos), Water Borders (live) & WhITCH
