Mission Creek Music Festival Presents: Maus Haus, Rainbow^Arabia, Pierre Le Robot, DJ Gatsby
Sat 7/25 @ Bottom of the Hill
Insanely excited for this one...
Maus Haus, Rainbow Arabia, Pierre Le Robot With the advent of the robotic vacuum, and all the other little helpers that are soon to come, there will be nothing else to do but dance away our ambivalence. This line-up of electro-pop bands creates anthems for our fated futures. The San Francisco sextet Maus Haus makes mirthfully morbid '60s-inspired neo electro on top of spastic whirring synths, keys, drums and bass guitar. Los Angeles duo Rainbow Arabia fuses Afrobeat with belly-dance percussion and tops it with sweet, seductive serenades that would charm a snake. Bay Area pair Pierre Le Robot perform facing each other, obliging its dual keyboards to kiss. Mediating its squealing plea "dance, dance, dance" on "The Janjaweed of Darfur" with rhythmic throbs, the twosome tends to turn its audience into a sweaty, gyrating throng. 9:30 p.m. $10. All ages. Bottom of the Hill, 1233 17th St., S.F. (415) 621-4455. www.bottomofthehill.com. (M.B.V.D.)

and from SF Weekly: love for Rainbow Arabia...
"The name says it all. Rainbow Arabia mashes fragrant Middle Eastern flavors into every sick color that weedy electro-psych has to offer, creating a greenhouse effect that’s part euphoria, part paranoia. The grabby 7-inch single “Omar K” and last year’s The Basta EP are shockingly dense for the work of just two people: L.A.–based spouses Danny and Tiffany Preston. He handles keys and beats, while she juggles guitar and percussion with opaque yelps recalling M.I.A. and/or amateur whale calls. The duo’s new Kabukimono EP is another hazy, clamorous outing, with no exits clearly marked. Rainbow Arabia performs with Maus Haus and Pierre Le Robot as part of the Mission Creek Music Festival." — Doug Wallen
