Dan B: I completely agree. Neko was amazing, but the interviewer almost ruined the first half of the show ("insipid and self-involved" just about sums it up). I just wish Neko had played more songs: she sounds absolutely amazing live, and the acoustics in the theater were great. I hope she'll be back in SF for the Middle Cyclone tour, at least.
this was such a disappointment. Neko was wonderful as always, but that woman interviewing her was beyond awful. totally "insipid and self-involved," as my friend put it perfectly. she invoked the name of her producer boyfriend (T-Bone Burnett) about twenty+ times during the interview, and even interrupted a great story by Neko to pipe in a cell phone call from him over the loudspeakers that was totally awkward and pointless. she kept repeating things like, "oh I can relate so much you have no idea," always trying to turn the attention back to her. she even managed to bring up the fact that she wrote the screenplay for Thelma and Louise. awful. please tell me someone else thought the same thing.
