Wordless Music presents Jonny Greenwoodâs âPopcorn Superhet Receiverâ in San Francisco, which will mark the US West Coast premier of the classical piece.
In 2005, the BBC Concert Orcherstra premiered Jonny Greenwoodâs classical piece âPopcorn Superhet Receiverâ. Wordless Music took it to the USA, where it debuted in New York last January. The Alabama Symphony Orchestra played it in April. On August 21 you can attend the The Herbst Theatre in San Francisco to hear the piece.
The night before Radiohead takes the stage at the OUTSIDE LANDS Music & Arts Festival in San Francisco, Wordless Music will present the West Coast premiere of Jonny Greenwoodâs Popcorn Superhet Receiver for string orchestra. Conductor Benjamin Shwartz (resident conductor of the mighty San Francisco Symphony) will lead the Magik*Magik Orchestra in a program of music by Arvo Pärt, a major influence on the music of Jonny Greenwood and Radiohead, along with Bay Area composers Fred Frith, Mason Bates, and John Adams.
You can buy tickets for this special event starting next week at cityboxoffice.com.
The program will be:
Arvo Pärt: Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten
